As a Chicago boudoir photographer oftentimes when photographing my clients it is their first-ever experience with a boudoir session. This can lead to a number of feelings. One of the more popular feelings headed into a boudoir session is nervousness and even a bit of uncertainty as it is such a different experience than any other photography session. You’re vulnerable, and you’re trying something new which is why it’s important to know what you can expect when walking into your boudoir session with your Chicago boudoir photographer. Having these five things in mind going into your session will help to put you at ease and help you to feel confident heading into your boudoir session.
Boudoir sessions are so unique compared to every other type of photography session. They’re equal parts confidence and vulnerability, which is why your comfort is my highest priority. I take my time to prepare each of my clients and get to know them as people and what types of photos they hope to walk away with. As a photographer, Chicago boudoir sessions are some of my favorites because of this. There’s no other style of photography that is this empowering and it’s SUCH a cool experience. But what exactly goes into photographing my boudoir sessions? Here are five things you can expect at your boudoir session.
First things first for your boudoir session I want you to be feeling good. The vibes need to be right and I’ve found the best way to achieve that is through music! I have a few Spotify playlists of my own that I tend to use for my boudoir sessions, but if you’re big into music and already have your own playlist to get you excited for your session we can get that going on my speakers as well. Music will help you to get comfortable in your outfits, and help you to stay loose as we are moving through some of your poses. As a Chicago boudoir photographer your comfort is my number one priority for these sessions, so if you have a must-have list of songs for your session let’s put them on!
I always make sure to have a couple of non-alcoholic beverages to help my clients stay hydrated for their session, along with a bottle of champagne or mimosa! If you need just a little something to take the edge off leading into your session, the second you walk in I’ll pour you a little bit of mimosa before you start to get changed into your first outfit. As a Chicago boudoir photographer, I know the hustle and bustle of the city and that even just getting to the session can have your stress levels elevated a bit. Making sure I have a couple of beverage options available so you’re able to take a second to reset before we take some epic photos of you!
No one feels like themselves on an empty stomach, and being in front of a camera while hardly wearing anything is not something you want to do without having something to eat. As I mentioned a few times prior, your comfort is my number one priority as a Chicago boudoir photographer, so we’ll have some snacks available to keep you fueled for your session. I’ll have smaller snacks such as small cookies, or sometimes granola bars to help you take the edge off leading into your session.
I’ve said it a few times now, but it can’t be understated just how important your comfort is during your boudoir session. Boudoir photography is beautiful and empowering but incredibly vulnerable, which is why providing you with a safe space for your session is crucial. Prior to your Chicago boudoir session, I walk you through every step of the process. You’ll receive a boudoir guide, and if you need help picking out what to wear throughout your session, you’ll have access to me to help you workshop some ideas. I want you to come into this session feeling confident and excited along with the nerves, which is why I will make sure you know exactly what to expect and how to prepare for your session.
While I’ll be sure to make you feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed in front of the camera, as your Chicago boudoir photographer I’m also going to be your number one hype girl. You’re beautiful and you deserve to feel beautiful, so I’m going to be gassing you up all throughout our session! I’ve found that having someone there to support and encourage you for your boudoir session really helps to get you in the right frame of mind for your session and gets you feeling like the beautiful and badass human you are!
As a Chicago boudoir photographer, there’s nothing I love more than creating an experience for you to feel as beautiful and powerful as you know you are. That’s why so much care goes into creating a boudoir experience for you where you can feel both comfortable and empowered.
