Even though my day with Katy and Andrew was short it was oh so sweet! I almost can’t believe all the moments and magic we were able to capture throughout their intimate fall wedding day in Bloomington Illinois. These two share an incredible love for one another and being able to not only capture that love, but also experience it in the presence of their loved ones was simply amazing.
My day with Katy and Andrew started with their intimate ceremony at Davis Lodge on Lake Bloomington. Katy and Andrew opted for no first look for their wedding day as Katy was so excited about the idea of Andrew seeing her for the first time walking down the aisle! Before long that moment was here and it was SO sweet. The two said I do in the company of their closest friends and family and surrounded by the gorgeous fall colors on the lake.
Both Katy and Andrew knew they wanted plenty of time for portraits here with the fall colors before heading to Bloomington for their intimate wedding reception, so we planned plenty of portrait time into their timeline. Between the family and wedding party portraits, solo portraits of them in the lodge, and finally sunset portraits by the lake with the fall colors on full display, there was so much to love. Once portraits were over it was time to hit the road and make our way to Bloomington and get the party started!
In Bloomington you’ll find Epiphany Farms Restaurant which Katy and Andrew chose to host their intimate fall wedding reception. The restaurant was the perfect space for their reception, both in terms of atmosphere and space. The ballroom can fit up to 160 guests, so Katy and Andrew’s intimate wedding guests had plenty of space while also not feeling like the room was empty. In addition the lighting, brick walls, and light décor that Katy and Andrew added created a setting that was impossible not to love. Their night was complete with speeches, cake, and plenty of dancing to celebrate the newlyweds.
I’m so in love with Katy and Andrew’s intimate wedding day in Bloomington, Illinois. It’s the perfect example of how to make the most of your wedding day coverage, and also how to use your time wisely when it comes to getting natural light for your portraits in the fall.
