In the last couple of years, boudoir photography has become increasingly popular for soon-to-be brides, newlyweds, and people who just want a little confidence boost. Boudoir photos are so much fun for so many reasons which is why I encourage all of my brides to schedule a session prior to their wedding day. If you’re new to boudoir photography, a boudoir session is a photo session in which you celebrate yourself and your body while taking photos in an intimate, sensual, and romantic way.
Boudoir photography is an awesome way for you to get comfortable in front of the camera prior to your wedding day while also getting some amazing photos of yourself during this cool time of your life that you’re in. If I haven’t convinced you already to book a boudoir session, here are six reasons you should schedule a boudoir session with me before your wedding day.
The first reason to think about doing a boudoir session before your wedding day is the photos make for the perfect wedding gift for your soon-to-be spouse. Boudoir photography at its core is about you feeling your best and showing off the beauty that makes you who you are. You look damn good in front of the camera, and your partner knows that.
Put together an album or a box with some of your photos to gift to them the morning of your wedding as a little surprise to start off their day.
Like I mentioned earlier boudoir photography is some of if not the most empowering styles of photography out there. You might be nervous before the session or worried that you’ll feel too vulnerable in front of the camera, but I will be with you every step of the way. Your session will be done in a safe space and while you may be nervous at first those nerves quickly turn to excitement as your session gets underway. Vulnerability is a key part of boudoir photography and actually adds to your empowerment.
Let’s be real, you look good and you KNOW you look good. You deserve to be able to feel that confidence and pride for yourself. Better yet you deserve to capture those emotions in your photos so that you can always go back and feel those feelings again. Your session will boost your confidence in front of the camera and hype you up for your wedding day.
Speaking of hype there is a lot of it that goes into your wedding day. It’s one of the biggest, most important moments of your life. You found THE person, and you’re looking to spend the rest of your life together which is a big deal.
A boudoir session before your wedding is going to add to that excitement even more! You’re going to be feeling ready to take on the world after your boudoir session. You’re looking good, you’re feeling good from the session, you’re about to spend an entire day celebrating you and the love of your life. If you’re planning on having your boudoir photos as a gift for your spouse that will also add to the excitement and anticipation of it all.
Who said you have to have a solo boudoir session? If you’re a little on the fence about boudoir photography, or maybe you have a friend or someone in your wedding party that’s interested in it you can both have a session together. Trust me your photographer (me) will be hyping you up for your boudoir session, but no one knows how to hype you up like your best friend.
Having a best friend along with you for a boudoir session is great for the added hype but also for your comfort level. It’s a lot easier to loosen up in front of a photographer if you add in your bestie hyping you up throughout the session. Add in some mimosa mix and a little bit of music and we have a real party on our hands!
Having a boudoir session before your wedding day is a great excuse to get yourself some new lingerie. Not that you ever need an excuse to get all dressed up, there is just something fun about picking out a gorgeous pair of undergarments. Hit up your favorite lingerie shops whether it be Fenty, Adore Me, or good old Victoria’s Secret, there are SO many cool options for lingerie these days.
If you’re not super into lingerie but still want to do some boudoir photos, remember there are SO many different ways to show off your body without all the lace! I love incorporating denim, oversized tees, a button-up, or tights, there are SO many different ways to showcase your beauty.
Last but definitely not least, because you’re FREAKING beautiful and you should celebrate that! Boudoir photography is a celebration of you and who you are at this point in time. Let’s be real, none of us are getting any younger, and while our beauty never really fades it’s fun to be able to look back at who you were at that point in time. One of my favorite parts about photography is being able to capture these kinds of moments and preserve them so my clients are able to look back at them for years to come. Boudoir takes that to the next level as you get to fully see yourself and all your beauty.
Having a boudoir session before your wedding day may not be the first thought that comes to your head when thinking about your wedding but trust me you should do it. Boudoir photography is great for so many reasons, most importantly being your empowerment. You should feel like your best self heading into your wedding day and a boudoir session will definitely take you to that confident place. If that sounds up your alley, here’s my boudoir inquiry form.
